On 23rd of November 1991, the owner of PCS Furnishing Centre Gary Le Coadou first opened the doors at Henry Bowers Workshops in Chard. At that
time, although only selling Carpets it soon became clear that there was a big demand and so Gary was delighted to welcome Richard Brook as Store Manager in early 1992 before introducing Beds into the shop.

Over the past 30yrs over 50,000 Carpet invoices and 7,000 Bed invoices have been raised and we would like to ‘Thank’ each and everyone of the loyal and
supportive customers for choosing to buy locally and allowing PCS to supply their Carpets and Beds.

Our Sales Team is headed by Store Manager Richard Brook who having been at PCS for 29 years has welcomed and given advice to over three generations
of families throughout the years. He has been supported over the last five years by son-in-law Henry Ivers and now on a part-time basis by Justin Mason who initially worked his first day at PCS in 1998. Our main aim as a Retailing outlet is for our Staff to offer customers a friendly personal service without pressuring anyone into buying something beyond their budget or requirements.

We offer a Free Measuring Service and our Planner & Estimator Trevor Wells will happily come out to your property to offer advice on your particular installation and to calculate how much flooring is required. Trevor is another long-standing employee who joined our Team twenty five years ago in 1996.

From the first point of contact for the Planning & Estimating, to the Ordering of the Carpets, we are always available to offer help and guidance along the way.

We have nine members of staff including two fully trained Carpet Fitters Jake and Connor and they are ably assisted by our newest recruit Justin Evered when he’s not delivering goods onto site or helping with the stock control in the shop.

In 2018 when the Landlord of Henry Bowers Workshop Syd Tolley passed away and the premises were put up for Sale, PCS went through a very difficult
period of uncertainty.

Gary said, ‘Almost all of the prospective Buyers wanted to demolish the building which meant that PCS Furnishing Centre would have to either close
down or relocate to another site’.

Thankfully this did not happen as in February of this year, Gary with his partner Penny managed to secure the future of PCS and purchased the property. This will enable PCS to continue serving the community of Chard and the surrounding areas for hopefully many more years to come.
